After the longest hiatus any of our podcasts have ever seen The Castle Rock Podcast is back! Myself and my new regular co-host Wes sit down with friend and fellow DZPN member El Goro to talk about Stephen King’s most controversial book to date Rage. What has caused this book to be taken out of print by King himself? In our short story selection we cover The Lawnmower Man. We discuss this crazy little story and about how this story is also pretty controversial when it comes to King but in a completely different way. It more deals with the film adaptation. All that and much more. Music is from The Lawnmower Man films and video games.

The Shining
We’re back! And as promised it’s time to talk about the classic haunted hotel story The Shining. We talk about the book, the two adaptations, and add a short story selection to our line up for each episode. Since we’re talking about haunted hotels we figured the best short story to team up with The Shining would be 1408. We also discuss briefly the movie adaption starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. Some clips in this episode are of a story about Stephen King on Primetime Live, Stephen King at a live event telling a story about when he first talked to Stanley Kubrick, Shelly Duvall and Kubrick but heads on set but she talks about their working process, Jack Nicholson chats about what you bring to the table when working on a Kubrick film, and finally John Cusack does an interview with a show in France about working on 1408. Music is from The Shining (1980), The Shining (1997), and 1408. Check out our friends at The King Cast and the Everything’s Eventual Movie. Enjoy!
Salem’s Lot
Well after an unplanned break we’re finally back with episode 2. We delve into Stephen King’s vampire novel Salem’s Lot. Lot’s of discussion on what has happened to the vampire in current fiction. We chat about the multiple movie adaptations, what we’ve been reading outside of King, and read some comments from the website (which as of this writing is wonky). Also Blake from the 2 In 1 Showcase On Comics Podcast stops in to review King’s current vampire project American Vampire.
Music from this show is from the original 1979 movie adaptation and one song after our adapation discussion is from the new 2004 version. All the music was provided to us by Brother D over at Mail Order Zombie. Much thanks to them.
Carrie
Welcome to the first episode of the Castle Rock Podcast. We talk about King’s first published novel Carrie, the film adaptation, and other adaptions based on this novel. Also included is an interview with Stephen King about his work on Carrie and we talk to William Katt about the film.
